I was thrilled to have recently been able to review a video of the fashion show that highlighted the Valentino Spring 2014 Menswear Collection. For starters let’s establish that the collection has a very distinct uniform look and feel. Jackets, suits and shirts give the appearance of a carefully constructed military uniform. Whether it’s the denim, leather or cotton/khaki materials, the uniform influence was quite evident from start to finish.
Another amazing aspect from this prestigious fashion house is the mix of high with low. For instance a number of the very elaborate suits and/or jackets in the collection were paired with their modified flip-flops (sandals). The colors run a safe gamut of vibrant versus conservative hues; which makes for an enjoyable show. Some of my favorite pieces were the leather jackets and the contrasting colors used in the designs. I also noticed the continuation of the document holder or amazing leather portfolio this season as well as the occasional duffle and briefcase.
If you want to see how to perfectly pair a simple white t-shirt with a patterned pant, this is your collection. As always, I am sharing in today’s blog pictures of my favorite looks from the show.
